Job summary

SSR Mining Inc. in Valmy, Nevada, offers a summer Industrial Hygiene Internship at the Marigold Mine. The program runs mid-May to mid-August with four 10-hour shifts, including weekends and some night work, reporting to the Safety, Health & Security Manager.

You will assist in IH sampling, data entry, risk assessments, and training, and help implement engineering controls while gaining practical field experience in occupational safety.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field.
• Must complete a ten-week internship at the Marigold mine in Valmy, NV.
• Full-time college student at the Sophomore, Junior, Senior or graduate level.
• Minimum GPA 3.0; transcripts required to be attached.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Assist IH team in development of IH initiatives and sampling strategy.
• Coordinate IH sampling across site and implementation of other IH initiatives.
• Assist with MSHA inspections and sampling as directed.
• Assist in updating physical demands analyses and health risk assessments.
• Sample shipment, data entry, statistical analysis of samples.
• Implementation of controls, with an emphasis on engineering controls.
• Provide health sampling, noise sampling, and biological sampling as needed.
• Conduct new hire health trainings as directed.
