Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum GPA 3.0; transcripts required to be attached.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old.

Internships are temporary positions, hired through a local temporary employment agency and typically run from mid-May to mid-August. This position reports to the Safety, Health & Security Manager, the Industrial Hygiene Intern will typically work 4, 10-hour day shifts which may include occasional weekends, holidays and night shifts. The Industrial Hygiene Intern is responsible to provide occupational safety and health sampling, guidance, training and support to the departments and personnel at the Marigold Mine.**Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties:**The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:* Assist IH Team in development of IH initiatives and sampling strategy for site* Coordinate IH sampling across site, and realization of other IH initiatives* Assist with MSHA inspections and sampling as directed* Assist in updating physical demands analyses and health risk assessments* Sample shipment, data entry, statistical analysis of samples* Implementation of controls, with an emphasis on engineering controls* Employee notification of sampling results* Assist divisions with toolbox and other training sessions as directed* Conduct new hire health trainings as directed* Maintain stock of IH sampling supplies and equipment calibration status* Provide health sampling, noise sampling, and biological sampling as needed* Monitor and audit effectiveness of all controls in place for health exposures**Key Relationships:*** This role requires frequent interaction with department employees, supervision, and management to provide assistance, service and support.* Ability to build trust and develop great working relationships with site personnel and regulatory agencies.* Ability to provide strong leadership and act as an effective change agent.* Ability to interact with all departments or groups as needed, for problem resolution.**Required Skills:*** Working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or other related field* Must be able to complete an internship lasting a minimum of ten (10) weeks at the Marigold mine in Valmy, Nevada* Full time college student at the Sophomore, Junior, Senior or graduate level majoring in Industrial Hygiene or closely related field* Must be minimally classified as an incoming Junior for the Fall 2021 semester (proof of enrollment required – must submit with application as attachments)* Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (transcripts required – must submit with application as attachments)* Can have a maximum of two (2) internships with Marigold (this does NOT include summers as working for Marigold as a Summer Student)* Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills* Excellent verbal and written communication skills* Strong Leadership skills* Extensive skills using Microsoft computer systems* Comfortable giving presentations and speaking to large groups**Required Experience:*** Exposure to conducting Industrial Hygiene sampling for dust/silica, noise, metal fumes and mercury* Must have a valid driver’s license* Minimum age 18 years* Ergonomic experience preferredSSR Mining Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
