We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented, and highly professional Industrial Hygiene Field Technician specializing in asbestos, mold, and lead testing. As an Industrial Hygiene Field Technician, you will travel within a prescribed geography to collect samples and conduct testing for restoration companies, abatement companies, homeowners, and insurance companies. You'll operate as the face of our business in every client interaction, so a genuine customer-first mindset and professional presence are just as important as technical accuracy. Your primary goal is to gather accurate data and generate comprehensive reports to aid in the identification and management of asbestos, mold, and lead hazards. This role also comes with real ownership: you'll operate and maintain your own mobile lab vehicle and manage your day-to-day schedule and territory much like running your own small business within ours, we're looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who takes pride in that independence and responsibility.
Position Responsibilities
- Travel to designated locations within the prescribed geography to collect samples for asbestos, mold, and lead testing, following established protocols and using approved equipment and tools.
- Perform on-site analysis of collected samples using approved laboratory methods and equipment, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Polarized light microscopy and Light microscopy
- XRF Analysis
- Conduct thorough inspections and assessments of buildings to identify the presence of asbestos, mold, and lead, accurately interpreting results to determine presence, type, and extent of contamination.
- Comfortably work in a variety of physical conditions and spaces, including attics, crawlspaces, basements, and other tight areas and be willing to move furniture, materials, or debris as needed to safely access testing locations.
- Maintain proper chain-of-custody procedures for all collected samples, and document and record all relevant information regarding sample collection, testing procedures, and observations.
- Prepare clear, detailed, and professional reports summarizing findings, observations, test results, and recommendations, and deliver them to clients within established timelines.
- Represent the company with the highest level of professionalism and courtesy in every interaction, with homeowners, restoration companies, abatement companies, insurance adjusters, and any other stakeholder you encounter on-site or afterward. You are often a client's first and most memorable point of contact with our business.
- Communicate clearly and patiently with clients, explaining the testing process and addressing questions or concerns in a way that builds trust and confidence.
- Take full ownership of your assigned mobile lab vehicle, including routine maintenance, cleanliness, and equipment calibration, treating it as you would your own business asset.
- Coordinate with scheduling/dispatch systems to manage your daily route and job priorities efficiently and independently.
- Obtain and maintain all required state and industry certifications and accreditations, and stay current on evolving regulations, standards, and best practices in asbestos, mold, and lead testing.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of sampling and testing supplies and equipment, recommending purchases as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to continually strengthen your technical and customer-service skills.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, chemistry, biology, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications in asbestos, mold, and lead testing, such as NIOSH 582, ACAC CIEC, and/or EPA AHERA certification, are strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in asbestos, mold, and lead testing, preferably in a field or laboratory setting.
- Experience with microscopy is preferred. Familiarity with industry regulations and guidelines, including OSHA, EPA, and state-specific requirements related to asbestos, mold, and lead testing.

- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret test results accurately.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong technical writing ability preferred.
- Ability to work independently, manage your own schedule, and prioritize effectively while meeting project timelines.
- Comfortable with regular travel within the prescribed geography and flexible work hours as needed.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and the ability to work confidently in potentially hazardous environments.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
