Job summary

Cascades seeks an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic in our Niagara Falls mill to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hydraulic and mechanical equipment across the production lines. You’ll diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, and install components to keep the paper mill running safely and efficiently.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years in industrial maintenance with hands-on hydraulic troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on hydraulic troubleshooting and repair experience.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic power systems, pumps, valves, cylinders, accumulators, and fluid power principles.
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Experience rebuilding hydraulic pumps, cylinders, and valves.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work safely in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hydraulic, mechanical, and lubrication systems throughout the paper mill.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, hydraulic power units, and associated control systems.
• Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment drawings.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on production equipment, using HYDAC or similar troubleshooting equipment.
• Install, rebuild, and maintain hydraulic pumps, valves, and cylinders.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and support emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
• Conduct inspections and identify equipment deficiencies before failures occur.
• Work closely with operations personnel to improve equipment reliability and production efficiency.
• Complete maintenance work orders and documentation accurately and timely.
• Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental regulations.
• Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
