Job summary

King & George, LLC is seeking a BOS HVAC Mechanic in Augusta, GA to maintain, repair, install and operate boilers, refrigeration equipment, generators and air conditioning facilities. The role requires EPA certification and HVACR knowledge, with duties including installation, testing, and replacement of components.

Qualified applicants will have NATE or equivalent certification and experience with various HVAC systems; work is performed on-site in Base Operations & Maintenance facilities.

Qualifications

• EPA certification to purchase and handle ozone depleting chemicals as outlined in federal and state regulations.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, construction drawings, schematics and diagrams pertaining to HVAC craft.
• Ability to perform work safely under hazardous conditions.
• Able to troubleshoot and repair most complex problems.
• Steam boiler knowledge is a must for this position.

Responsibilities

• Mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor using hand tools and blueprints.
• Fabricates, assembles, and installs ductwork and chassis parts.
• Installs evaporator unit in chassis or air-duct system.
• Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape.
• Cuts and threads pipe using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment.
• Joins tubing or pipes to refrigerating units and solders joints.
• Installs expansion and discharge valves in circuit.
• Connects motors, compressors, control panels to power source.
• Installs air and water filters in completed installation.
• Tests refrigerant pressure and system operation.
• Replaces defective controls, thermostats, switches and wiring.
• May install and service air conditioners up to 20 tons in warehouses.
• Other duties as assigned.
