Job summary

ASTEC is seeking a manufacturing assembler to join our team in Chattanooga, TN. You will assemble heavy and large mechanical products, using hand and pneumatic tools, read blueprints, and operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move components. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 0–2 years in heavy equipment manufacturing, and basic computer skills. Team collaboration and adherence to production schedules are key.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 0-2 years heavy equipment manufacturing experience desired.
• Ability to correctly use and read a tape measure, and read/understand job-related blueprints, required.
• Ability to read drawings and blueprints accurately.
• Able to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Computer experience desired, particularly basic file handling.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and assembles component parts, machined parts, and subassemblies.
• Uses various hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, and precision measuring instruments to complete tasks.
• Removes burrs and rough spots from parts with hand file, hone stone, or portable pneumatic grinder.
• Operates overhead cranes and forklifts to move parts and materials and to assemble large components.
• Performs minor adjustments, repairs, or setups to equipment or machines under supervision.
• Follows safety standards and reports problems to supervisor.
• Other duties may include basic welding, washing, primer and painting of components or assemblies.
