Job summary

Cust-O-Fab is seeking an experienced Header Welder to perform welding and fitting on air-cooled heat exchanger headers. The role requires reading weld procedures and fabrication drawings, and working with various welding processes to meet safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include welds on header corners, fit-up of plug boxes and cover plates, and welding repairs per NDE results. Must operate overhead/jib cranes and maintain a clean, safe work area; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow welding procedures and parameters.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings, weld sizes, dimensions, and symbols.
• Experience with SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, or SAW.
• Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome, or nickel alloys.
• Experience with multiple welding positions (1G/2G/3G/6G).
• Ability to read NDE results and perform weld repairs.
• Ability to operate overhead/jib cranes and rig materials safely.
• Strong safety and quality focus; willing to overtime.

Responsibilities

• Weld and fit air-cooled heat exchanger headers and related components in accordance with procedures and specs.
• Read and interpret weld procedures and fabrication drawings.
• Weld header corners and components; perform fit-up of header components including plug boxes and cover plates.
• Perform welding repairs based on inspection and NDE results; remove rejects and minimize rework.
• Use cutting processes such as carbon arc gouging and plasma cutting as required.
• Operate overhead and jib cranes; rig and position materials safely.
• Coordinate with QC to maintain quality standards and address issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow SOPs and safety requirements.
