Responsible for the design, modeling, development, and testing of machines, structures, or systems. Develops functional requirements.
Understands and applies standard engineering principles. Creates simulations and prototypes to evaluate preliminary designs and test how a machine, structure, or system operates. Designs and tests components and integrates components to produce the final product.
Monitors product quality and controls process efficiency. Evaluates overall design effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety. Investigates root causes of failures to maintain quality and recommends improvements.
Job Details and Requirements
- Support and maintain all communications across CO, including Alamar DATA, SCADA, and Test DSL circuits.
- Pass a background check. Access to substations, knowledge of fire rating systems, PPE requirements.
- Knowledge of electrical grid. Field-based role. Reports to a service center in the morning to receive daily jobs via ServiceNow queue. Needs to be self-managed.
- Work closely with leads and 18 other technicians. No external vendors. Must be self-driven and a team player.
- High safety and risk considerations, especially if responsibilities extend beyond office work.
- Train and mentor with current technicians. Expected to be up to speed within a few months.
- Work hours involve on-call shifts for 24/7 operation.

Skill Set Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience in telecommunications, voice, or data fields. Knowledge of Cat 5/6, fiber optics. Valid driver's license; vehicle provided.
- Clean record preferred. Knowledge of SAP, Level II/III networking, Sienna/Nokia networks. Ability to learn quickly. Some familiarity with ServiceNow. PPE provided at substations. High school diploma acceptable; field experience valued over education.
- Self-managed, team-oriented, coachable, able to follow instructions.
- Ideal candidates have 5-7 years of field technician experience, preferably from companies like CenturyLink or Comcast.
Nice to have: Nokia or Cisco certifications, boot camps.
