Zusammenfassung

Brose North America Inc. is seeking an on‑site student intern in New Boston, Michigan to rotate through production units and gain hands‑on exposure to manufacturing processes, plant layout, and assembly operations.

You will support time studies, cycle time analysis, line balancing, and the development and maintenance of process diagrams, P‑FMEA, and manufacturing layouts, while contributing to safety, training records, and data analysis for continuous improvement.

Qualifikationen

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in engineering with interest in manufacturing/continuous improvement.
• No prior professional experience required; exposure to manufacturing is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; capable of learning and applying new concepts.

Aufgaben

• Rotate through production units to gain hands‑on exposure to processes and assembly operations.
• Support time studies, cycle time analysis, and line balancing for capacity planning.
• Assist in developing and maintaining process flow diagrams and P-FMEA documentation.
• Help update work instructions to reflect current production processes and changes (BPS).
• Participate in trial builds and support PPAP/ISIR activities for new/existing programs.
• Support ergonomics assessments and job‑safety analyses across production areas following OSHA requirements.
• Assist with skill matrix tracking and auditing of operator training records.
• Compile/analyze production, quality, and attendance data to support reporting and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Industrial Engineering Coordinators/Team Leads in cross‑functional meetings to understand plant operations.
• Support additional production/Industrial Engineering projects as assigned.

Your Tasks

• Can work on-site in New Boston, Michigan
• Rotate through assigned production business units to gain hands‑on exposure to manufacturing processes, plant layout, and assembly operations.
• Support the Industrial Engineering team with time studies, cycle time analysis, and line balancing to support process planning and capacity requirements.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of process flow diagrams, P-FMEA documentation, and manufacturing layouts.
• Support updates to work instructions to ensure documentation reflects current production processes, engineering changes, and BPS requirements.
• Participate in trial builds and support PPAP/ISIR activities for new and existing production programs.
• Support ergonomics assessments and job‑safety analyses across assigned production areas while following applicable safety and OSHA requirements.
• Assist with skill matrix tracking and the maintenance and auditing of production operator training records.
• Compile and analyze production, quality, and attendance data to support reporting and continuous improvement activities.
• Work alongside Industrial Engineering Coordinators and Team Leads and participate in cross‑functional production meetings to develop a broad understanding of plant operations.
• Support additional production and Industrial Engineering projects as assigned.

Your Profile

• Currently enrolled as a Freshman or Sophomore pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
• No prior professional experience required; previous exposure to manufacturing or production environments is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with an interest in manufacturing and continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Willingness and ability to learn engineering and business systems such as AutoCAD, SAP, and MFG/PRO.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing and production concepts preferred.
• Detail‑oriented, organized, and adaptable with the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across production and engineering teams.
