Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a motivated Junior Industrial Engineer for an on-site internship in Upington, Northern Cape. You will assist senior engineers in analyzing processes, collecting data, and supporting the implementation of improvements aimed at boosting efficiency and productivity.

This internship offers hands-on learning in process analysis, Lean Manufacturing tools, basic time studies, and SOP documentation.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Strong academic record with a good understanding of core industrial engineering concepts.
• Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn new skills.
• Willingness to commit to the internship duration.
• Enthusiasm for process improvement and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the analysis of existing production and operational processes.
• Collect and record data related to process performance, efficiency, and quality.
• Support senior engineers in the development and implementation of process improvements.
• Conduct basic time studies and workflow observations.
• Help maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
• Learn and apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools under guidance.
• Assist with the preparation of reports and presentations on findings.
• Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
• Support various operational projects as assigned by supervisors.
