Job summary

DigiKey Electronics is seeking an Industrial Engineering Intern for our Thief River Falls, MN campus. The role involves supporting the engineering team to define engineered labor standards and improve distribution processes in a highly automated warehouse environment.

We expect rising juniors or seniors pursuing Industrial Engineering or related fields, with strong communication and computer skills. The internship is onsite with local housing provided for interns and a path to develop practical

Qualifications

• A rising Junior or Senior currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Be willing to take the initiative, working independently and collaboratively
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills including average to above-average computer ability
• Demonstrating a positive, collaborative approach is important in this role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day tasks and projects in our highly automated warehouse system
• Utilize industrial engineering best practices in equipment, process, and human factor analysis
• Focus on human interfacing aspects of process and systems
• Observe, document, and time study processes to help define engineered standards
• Identify and implement process improvements and waste reduction
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions
• Collaborate with team members on various projects and initiatives
• Maintain organized records of work and project files
• Gain practical experience in the assigned department
• Develop a deeper understanding of DigiKey and how it operates
• Improve business skills such as communication, project management, data analysis, etc.
• Build a professional network within the industry
