Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in North Kingstown, RI, seeks an Industrial Engineer to optimize production flow and facility layout for submarine construction. You will analyze plant layouts, equipment placement, and work centers to improve efficiency and readiness within the Quonset Point facility.

This role partners with Operations Management, Programs Offices, Facilities Master Planning, and Strategic Sourcing to apply Lean and systems engineering principles, drive improvements, and ensure

Qualifications

• BS in Systems or Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in production, construction, or manufacturing environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Proficiency with MS Excel and solid communication skills.
• Ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and act as a change agent.
• Preferred: Lean, Kaizen, or Toyota Production System concepts; submarine construction knowledge; comfortable with design tools (MS Project, Visio, AutoCAD, Teamcenter/NX, Artemis).

Responsibilities

• Improve and optimize production flow in QP manufacturing areas.
• Build and refine work center layouts, module locations, and equipment placement.
• Analyze spatial needs and position assets for efficient submarine construction.
• Collaborate with Operations Management, Ships Management, Program Offices, Facilities Master Planning, and Strategic Sourcing.
• Lead projects to prepare the facility for future workload and capabilities.
• Apply Lean and systems engineering to identify conflicts and implement improvements.
