Job summary

Siemens Mobility is seeking an Industrial Engineer in Wendell, NC to lead lean initiatives and optimize material, information, and value flows. You will drive cost reduction, throughput improvement, and operational excellence across the value stream with a focus on standardized work, line balancing, Kanban, and visual management.

The role requires 3+ years in operations, strong cross-functional collaboration, and proficiency in Excel and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years in operations, manufacturing, or logistics.
• Experience with lean manufacturing techniques (VSM, Standardized Work, Line Balancing, Pull Systems/Kanban, A3/8D, SMED, Six Sigma, and 5S/6S).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
• Experience conducting time studies, labor analysis, capacity analysis, and quantifying value to support business reasoning for improvement.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills including meeting/workshop facilitation.
• AutoCAD or similar for layout design.

Responsibilities

• Optimizes material, value, and information flows to improve costs and throughput.
• Analyzes production value streams and develops standardized work like line balancing and Yamazumi charts.
• Builds value stream simulations for capacity planning and ramp-up scenarios.
• Drives lean material flow with Kanban and pull systems across departments to improve efficiency.
• Removes waiting waste by improving informational flow (visual signals, Andon, 6S, daily management).
• Delivers training and sustaining mechanisms for lean improvements.
• Maintains timelines, project plans, and status reports for new lines, deployments, or localizations.
