Leidos is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our Huntsville manufacturing teams, delivering processes for fabrication, machining, welding, painting, and assembly. The role focuses on facility layouts, capacity planning, and Lean initiatives to enhance throughput and ensure on-time delivery.

Ideal candidates have a BS in IE/IS Eng with 2+ years, strong AutoCAD and MS Office skills, and the ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams in a defense environment. US citizenship required.

Qualifications

• BS in Industrial Engineering or Industrial and Systems Engineering with experience.
• Experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
• Proficiency in manufacturing strategies, capacity planning, and takt time evaluation.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office.
• US Citizen with ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform Top Level/Rough Cut Capacity Planning and support Make vs. Buy with capacity analysis.
• Develop process flows/roadmaps using simulation tools with input from Manufacturing Team.
• Design work center layouts to ensure safety and on-time delivery.
• Improve efficiency by analyzing standards vs actual run times and drive Lean improvements.
• Develop and maintain facility layouts in AutoCAD.
• Design production constraint visual controls and metrics to reduce span time impacts.
• Develop standard processes and operating procedures for IE team across sites.
• Develop metrics to measure plant/equipment capability and identify bottlenecks.
• Conduct machine capacity analyses to improve machining efficiency.
• Support Lean Improvement Events, Kaizen, and problem-solving activities.
• Work with QA and production to initiate corrective actions for quality.
• Analyze systems to identify value-added vs non-value-added activities.
• Assist in long-range planning for capacity, launches, and plant layouts.
• Evaluate capacity planning for fabrication, machining, weld, paint, and assembly.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements using lean principles and root cause analysis.
• Promote continuous improvement practices across sites.
