You will design and optimize material-flow layouts, support kitting and milk‑run processes, and collaborate across production and engineering teams to drive improvements.

Bachelor's in Engineering required with 0–5 years of relevant experience depending on level.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
  • 0–5 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial engineering depending on level.
  • Experience with material-flow or material-handling concepts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support design, setup, and continuous improvement of material handling systems.
  • Analyze material movement to identify bottlenecks and improve flow.
  • Collaborate with production, supply chain, and engineering teams to drive improvements.
  • Assist planning and scheduling to reduce queue times and support just-in-time delivery.

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Industrial Engineer I-III based at our Berea, KY manufacturing plant.

What you will do:
  • Support the design, setup, and continuous improvement of material handling systems, including supermarkets, kitting areas, sequencing areas, and milk run routes.

  • Maintain and update material‑flow data, including bill of materials, engineering changes, and new product or process introductions.

  • Analyze material movement to identify bottlenecks, improve flow, and enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.

  • Monitor impacts of manufacturing or process changes and adjust material‑flow strategies accordingly.

  • Collaborate with production, supply chain, engineering, and other teams to provide recommendations and support improvement initiatives.

  • Assist with planning and scheduling systems to reduce queue times and support just‑in‑time delivery.

  • Support implementation and improvement of software, hardware, and equipment used for material‑flow activities.

  • Develop project plans, track progress, communicate updates, and help drive successful project execution.

  • Assist in the design and development of material handling fixturing and packaging solutions.

  • Determineoptimal packaging methods to maintain part integrity and ensure efficient delivery.

  • Lead internal packaging redesign initiatives to align with evolving process requirements.

Level II Additions:
  • Lead smaller‑scale implementations of supermarket design and milk‑run processes.
Level III Additions:
  • Lead major material‑flow improvement initiatives and drive alignment with broader operational strategies.

What you will need:
Level I:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.

  • Up to 2 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial engineering.

  • Experience with material‑flow or material‑handling concepts preferred.

Level II:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.

  • 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial engineering.

  • 2-3 years of experience in material‑flow or internal‑logistics processes preferred.

Level III:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.

  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial engineering.

  • 3-5 years of experience with advanced material‑flow strategies such as kitting, supermarket design, or milk‑run systems.

Skills, Experience & Abilities

  • Knowledge of discrete manufacturing processes and material‑handling systems.

  • Ability to design, analyze, and optimize material‑flow layouts and logistics methods.

  • Familiarity with lean principles and continuous‑improvement methodologies.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to simplify complex process issues.

  • Experience developing innovative solutions to manufacturing challenges.

  • Strong project‑management skills and experience leading cross‑functional efforts.

  • Ability to support teams through process changes and new‑system adoption.
