Job summary

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc. is seeking an Accounting Supervisor III at our Berea, KY facility. You will lead financial reporting, ensure GAAP/SEC/Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and supervise a accounting team across locations in the Americas.

The role emphasizes process improvement and internal controls to protect assets. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Accounting with 5+ years in progressive accounting roles; a MS or CPA/CMA/MBA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Master's degree in Accounting (MSA) preferred.
• CPA, CMA, and/or MBA certification preferred.
• Five+ years progressive accounting experience.
• Experience supervising accounting professionals preferred.
• Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee financial reporting activities and ensure GAAP, SEC, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and support compliance.
• Analyze results, identify variances, and provide management explanations.
• Support annual plans, forecasts, and long-range financial planning.
• Coordinate accounting across locations within the Americas Division.
• Supervise and develop accounting team members and manage workload.
• Champion process improvements to increase efficiency and reporting quality.

What You Will Do

• Lead and oversee financial reporting activities, ensuring compliance with GAAP, SEC, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, account reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
• Monitor and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and support compliance initiatives.
• Analyze financial results, identify variances, and provide recommendations and explanations to management.
• Support the development of annual operating plans, forecasts, and long-range financial planning activities.
• Coordinate accounting and reporting activities across multiple locations within the Americas Division.
• Supervise, coach, and develop accounting team members while managing workload priorities and performance.
• Champion process improvement efforts that increase efficiency, enhance reporting quality, and ensure compliance with internal control requirements.

What You Will Need – Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Master's degree in Accounting (MSA) preferred.
• CPA, CMA, and/or MBA certification preferred.

• Experience working with confidential financial information.
• Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders, external auditors, vendors, banks, and customers.
• Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately 5-6%).
