Job summary

Austin Water is hiring an Industrial Utility Electrician I to perform apprentice-level electrical diagnostics on motors, switchgear, and distribution systems in our facilities and remote locations.

Under supervision, you will assist in maintenance, repairs, wiring, conduit work, and coordinating 15kV switching with utilities during outages, while following safety protocols.

Requires high school diploma and 4 years experience; Texas Electrical Apprentice License or higher and valid driver license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 4 years electrical trade experience.
• Must hold Texas Electrical Apprentice License or higher.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver License.
• Experience with 600V–5KV motors and switchgear preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
• Read blueprints and schematics; perform wiring and splicing.
• Coordinate with utilities during outages and switching.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities.
