Job summary

EMR USA Metal Recycling in New Orleans, LA, is seeking an Industrial Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in a high-volume metal recycling facility. You will ensure shredders, conveyors, balers, and sorting systems operate safely and efficiently.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, an electrical apprenticeship or technical training, and 3–5 years of industrial electrical experience with familiarity in 480V systems and PLC troubleshooting.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Completion of an apprenticeship or technical training in electrical systems.
Licensed Electrician (Journeyman or Master preferred).
Minimum 3–5 years of industrial electrical experience (heavy industry or recycling environment preferred).
Strong understanding of electrical systems up to 480V or higher.
Experience with PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, machinery, and equipment used in metal recycling operations.
Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions in heavy industrial equipment such as shredders, conveyors, cranes, balers, and compactors.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical components to minimize downtime.
Diagnose issues using electrical testing devices, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and thermal imaging tools.
