Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking an experienced Plant Electrician for a direct hire in Elgin, IL. You will troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment and drives, perform preventive maintenance, and support production line systems in a high-speed manufacturing setting.

The role requires PLC certification, 4 years of experience in industrial maintenance, and safe operation of automated production equipment. Overtime may be available with a strong benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on production and utility equipment.

• Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, equipment manuals, and work orders.
• Use electrical meters, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
• Follow OSHA, LOTO, SOP, sanitation, and plant safety procedures.

Plant Electrician | PLC & Industrial Electrical Maintenance (Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled production equipment, electrical systems, drives, and plant machinery in a high-speed manufacturing environment.)

Location: Elgin, IL Shift: Day Shift | 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM Pay: $33.00–$42.00/hr based on experience Overtime: Available based on production needs Industry: Packaging Manufacturing

Role Summary

Randstad USA is seeking an experienced Plant Electrician for a direct hire opportunity in Elgin, IL. This position supports production and utility equipment through electrical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs. The ideal candidate has strong industrial electrical experience with PLCs, AC/DC drives, electrical schematics, and automated manufacturing equipment.

Qualifications & Skills Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• PLC certification required
• 1+ year of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience troubleshooting PLCs and AC/DC drives
• strong industrial electrical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
• Mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting experience
• Experience using electrical meters, hand tools, and power tools
• Ability to work safely around automated production equipment

Preferred

• Associate’s or Technical Degree in Electrical, Mechanics, Computer Science, or related field
• Packaging or high-speed manufacturing experience
• Welding and machining experience
• CMMS/work-order system experience

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on production and utility equipment
• Diagnose PLC-controlled equipment and AC/DC drive systems
• Perform scheduled, preventive, and emergency maintenance
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, equipment manuals, and work orders
• Use electrical meters, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as needed
• Support production line systems including lubrication, resin delivery, and other process equipment
• Complete PM inspections and document repairs accurately in the CMMS
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and help minimize production downtime
• Communicate equipment conditions and repair status with Maintenance and Production teams
• Track parts usage and communicate inventory needs
• Follow OSHA, LOTO, SOP, sanitation, and plant safety procedures
• Maintain a clean and safe maintenance work area

The essential functions of this role include:

• wearing steel toe shoes
• manual lifting up to 50lbs
• standing for 10 hours at one time
• working up to 10 hrs of overtime per week
