Job summary

Eastman in Kingsport is seeking an Electrical & Controls Designer to develop safe, coordinated electrical designs for large industrial capital projects through detailed design and commissioning.

The role focuses on physical design and documentation, including cable schedules, panel layouts, and I/O loading. Requires 3+ years of electrical design experience or 7+ years without a degree, with familiarity in NFPA 70 and relevant standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronics or equivalent
• 3+ years electrical design experience for degree path
• 7+ years progressive electrical design experience for alternative path

Responsibilities

• Develop FEL2/FEL3 scopes and estimates for industrial capital projects.
• Prepare/update electrical and controls design documents: cable schedules, tray plans, loop diagrams, panel layouts.
• Support electrical power design for MCCs, VFDs, transformers, switchgear.
• Design/assist lighting, grounding, and heat tracing systems.
• Apply area classifications and hazardous-location requirements to designs.
• Support construction, checkout, and commissioning through field issue resolution.
• Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, process, and other engineering disciplines.
