Job summary

iconbuild.com is seeking an Electrical Drafting Technician to support the design of electrical systems in industrial automation. This role involves creating detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts, ensuring adherence to industry standards while collaborating with engineers to fulfill design requirements.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of drafting experience, proficiency in CAD software, and knowledge of electrical codes. This is a full-time onsite position based in Austin, Texas.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of drafting experience, preferably in industrial automation or controls.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN (preferred).
• Understanding of electrical symbols, control systems, and panel design.
• Familiarity with PLC systems (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
• Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 79, UL 508A).

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise electrical drawings, including control panel layouts and wiring diagrams.
• Collaborate with engineers to interpret design requirements.
• Prepare drawings for PLC‑based control systems and instrumentation.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (NEC, UL, IEC, etc.).
• Coordinate with teams to ensure accuracy of designs.

Skills

Drafting experience in industrial automation

Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN)

Understanding of electrical symbols and panel design

Familiarity with PLC systems

Knowledge of electrical codes and standards

Education

Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field
