Job summary

Interlake Mecalux in Melrose Park, IL invites an entry-level Drafter to join our engineering team. You will analyze production drawings and create new drawings to support fabrication of sheet metal and structural steel assemblies.

The ideal candidate will review dimensions and tolerances, maintain drawing databases, and assist manufacturing with technical clarification while identifying challenges and proposing practical solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating industrial fabrication drawings.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, bending processes, and structural steel profiles.
• Education or training related to drafting, mechanical design, or related fields.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and databases efficiently while maintaining accuracy.
• Agility and strong sense of urgency in handling tasks and project deadlines.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment involving similar systems is preferred.
• Previous experience in an engineering office developing fabrication and production drawings for sheet metal and structural steel assemblies is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and review production drawings and fabrication plans.
• Develop technical drawings and new manufacturing projects.
