Job summary

TMS International in Alabama is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain, repair, and overhaul diesel engines and related equipment in our steel mill operations. You will work on trucks, loaders, and forklifts, prioritizing safety and reliability.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of diesel experience, a high school diploma, and technical certification. Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to read manuals and schematics are essential; willingness to work in a heavy industry setting and

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.
Minimum 3 years of diesel mechanics experience, preferably in industrial/manufacturing settings.
Experience with heavy equipment used in steel mills is a plus.

Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repair: perform routine maintenance and repair of diesel engines and related systems in equipment such as trucks, loaders, and forklifts.
Inspection and safety: conduct regular inspections and ensure compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer specs.
Diagnostics: use diagnostic tools to identify issues and implement solutions to maintain reliability.
Record keeping: document maintenance and labor hours; report needs to management.
Collaboration and safety: coordinate with maintenance staff and adhere to safety protocols.
