Amazon is offering a Robotics Industrial Engineer internship and co-op opportunities for 2027 in Arlington, MA, and Westborough, MA. Interns work on robotic automation, design and optimization of fulfillment-center technology, using tools like AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit and SolidWorks.

You’ll join the Robotics Manufacturing and Technical Operations team through summer, spring, and fall programs, contributing to research, development, and hands-on testing in campus labs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical), Operations Research, or related field.
  • Enrolled in an academic program physically located in the United States.
  • Experience using one or more design tools (AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, CREO, BIM360, SketchUp, KeyShot).
  • Knowledge of converting subsystem requirements into engineering designs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test and deliver solutions for workflow, space utilization and ergonomics.
  • Use tools such as AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, CREO, SketchUp, KeyShot, BIM360 to create high-quality models.
  • Identify and communicate issues in design, development, and implementation of fulfillment-center tech.
  • Invent and refine solutions to meet customer, business and team goals.
  • Understand business impact of designs and ensure performance and scalability.
  • Tech write process and best practices documentation.

Please note that by applying to this role you would be considered for Robotics Industrial Engineer 2027 summer intern, spring co-op, and fall co-op roles on the Robotics Manufacturing and Technical Operations team.

Key job responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test and deliver solutions (e.g., workflow/process path layout, space utilization/efficiency, ergonomics, etc.).
  • Use appropriate technologies (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, CREO, SketchUp, KeyShot, BIM360 etc.) to deliver high quality, operationally excellent models and design (e.g., safety, high quality, and performance) that meet the needs of the customer
  • Identify and communicate any issues associated with the design, development, implementation, and optimization of fulfillment-center technologies or design solution
  • Invent, develop, and refine solutions to ensure they are meeting customer, business, operational, technology, and team goals.
  • Understand business impact of designs and show good judgement when making design suggestions, ensuring they meet performance and scaling targets
  • Technical report writing of process and best practices
Basic Qualifications
  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical), Operations Research, or related fields
  • Are enrolled in a academic program that is physically located in the United States
  • Experience using one or more of the following technologies (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, CREO, BIM360, SketchUp, KeyShot, etc.) to deliver high quality models and designs
  • Knowledge of converting sub-system functional requirements into engineering requirements and component designs
  • Knowledge of IE fundamentals (e.g., basic spatial layouts of processing lines, process paths, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing efforts, transportation and logistics, or fulfillment and distribution centers
  • Experience communicating technical concepts and processes using clear, simple language and visuals
  • Experience with material handling and processing
