Job summary

Donaldson is seeking an Industrial Data Systems Intern for our Bloomington, MN world headquarters. In this 10–12 week summer internship, you will support SCADA software deployments, databases, data analytics, and dashboards under mentorship.

You'll collaborate with manufacturing, engineering and IT teams to improve operations, gain hands-on experience with industrial software, and contribute to Industry 4.0 initiatives while traveling up to 20%.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related major.
• Familiarity with SQL, databases, data analytics, or software development concepts.
• Experience with Python, C++, R, or other programming languages through coursework, projects, or internships.

The Donaldson internship program provides innovative students with meaningful, hands-on experience in a collaborative industry environment. Through real-world projects, mentorship, and development opportunities, we aim to support career growth and build a talent pipeline aligned with our values and goals. This internship takes place in summer 2027 during a 10-12-week period.

Advanced Manufacturing Technology is responsible for deploying processes, automation, and capital equipment for Donaldson's manufacturing plants.

The Industrial Data Systems Intern will work with our team to support with AMT automation equipment and software systems. The position is located in our Bloomington, MN world headquarters and will interact with colleagues in the US, as well as teams in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Qualified candidates must be able to work an on-site schedule at our Bloomington, MN office.

Role Responsibilities

• Support development and deployment of SCADA software applications and manufacturing data systems.
• Assist with database setup, data migration, reporting, dashboards, and data analytics projects.
• Help develop and maintain databases, data visualization tools, and reporting systems for manufacturing operations.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and IT teams to improve operational performance through data and automation.

Example Intern Projects

• Configure and maintain manufacturing databases.
• Support data migration and system integration efforts.
• Develop SCADA screens, reports, and dashboards.
• Analyze manufacturing data and create visualizations.
• Assist with Industry 4.0 and digital manufacturing initiatives.

Travel: Up to 20%

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related major.
• Familiarity with SQL, databases, data analytics, or software development concepts.
• Experience with Python, C++, R, or other programming languages through coursework, projects, or internships.
• Applicants may need to be U.S. Persons as defined by applicable regulations.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to manufacturing locations, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Interest in manufacturing systems, automation, industrial software, or data science.
• Coursework, projects, or internship experience related to:
• SCADA, MES, or industrial automation systems
• SQL databases, reporting, or data migration
• Data analytics, visualization, or data science
• Ignition, Oracle, or similar platforms
• PLCs, HMIs, robotics, machine vision, or industrial networking
• Web application or dashboard development experience.

Relocation

This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

Hourly Pay Range

$22.00 - 28.00, depending on projected undergraduate graduation date, educational degree in progress and major of study upon time of hire.

This position is overtime eligible as per state and federal regulations.
