Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation in Reading, PA is seeking a Crane Repair Person to ensure the safety and reliability of crane systems in our heavy industrial mill. You will inspect, repair and maintain cranes, motors, gearboxes, brakes, hydraulics and pneumatics, working with mechanics and electricians to keep equipment operating.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and 3–5 years of qualified craft experience; you will perform preventative maintenance, read blueprints, document

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school certification preferred.
• 3–5 years’ experience as qualified craft personnel (Mechanical, Electrical, or Crane Discipline) in a heavy industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, VFDs, and industrial machinery.
• Welding and metal fabrication experience required.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with lockout/tagout and other OSHA safety standards.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to meet safety requirements including ANSI fall protection expectations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and maintain crane systems and components.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain motors, gearboxes, brakes, hydraulics, pneumatics.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on cranes.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Collaborate with mechanics, electricians, and engineers to optimize equipment.
• Document maintenance work and update CMMS logs.
• Ensure all activities comply with safety and environmental regulations.
