Job summary

Base Power Company in Austin, Texas is seeking a hands-on controls engineering technician to be the first line of response for line health, working with Siemens S7 PLCs, Fanuc robots, and Ignition SCADA to monitor, diagnose, and prevent downtime.

This role is on the production floor and requires stepping through programs, identifying issues, documenting faults, and supporting commissioning and upgrades as the team scales its battery manufacturing.

Qualifications

2+ years of hands-on experience in an industrial automation environment.
Working familiarity with Siemens TIA Portal or STEP 7 and ladder logic.
Experience jogging and troubleshooting Fanuc robots (R-30iB or newer).
Basic SCADA/HMI understanding; Ignition experience is a plus.
Ability to read electrical schematics and I/O wiring diagrams.
Strong floor awareness and clear written communication.
Exposure to PROFINET or similar fieldbus protocols; PROFIsafe knowledge.
Experience with AGV systems or automated material handling is a plus.
Willingness to work 2nd shift: 3:30pm CST - 12:00am CST.

Responsibilities

Go online with Siemens S7-series PLCs to monitor, diagnose, and identify fault conditions with root-cause tracing.
Jog and run Fanuc robot programs; identify and touch up minor issues under direction.
Use Ignition SCADA/HMI to monitor line status, review tag history, and spot trends.
Respond to line stoppages with first-response diagnostics; gather data for engineers.
Document fault history and observations in a clear, usable format.
Support PMs and controls engineers on commissioning, upgrades, and verification.
Learn system architecture across the line and prepare to own more areas over time.
