Job summary

Torrey Holistics in Hanover, PA is seeking an Industrial Controls & Robotics Specialist to own maintenance of automated systems, troubleshoot Fanuc PLCs and robots, and improve HMI interfaces. You’ll design, program, and validate control logic, and mentor operators on best practices.

You’ll travel to sites as needed, follow GMP and safety protocols, maintain documentation, and lead root-cause analyses to reduce downtime, while collaborating with cross-functional teams on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 3+ years of relevant experience in technology/electrical fields.
  • Hands-on knowledge of PLCs, robotics, servos/VFDs, vision/RFID systems.
  • Proficiency in reading schematics and using measurement tools.

Responsibilities

About the RolePicture your day starting on the plant floor, where you review overnight performance data from robots, PLCs, and SCADA dashboards. You plan preventive checks, then dive into a controls challenge on a Fanuc cell, updating logic and verifying interlocks. By midday, youre collaborating with production to fine-tune an HMI, mentoring operators on best practices, and documenting changes. Before the shift ends, you close out a predictive maintenance task, validate an instrumentation calibration, and capture lessons learned for continuous improvement. Thats a typical day for our Industrial Controls & Robotics Specialist.What Youll DoOwn preventative and predictive maintenance for all automated systems, ensuring reliable uptime.Design, program, troubleshoot, and enhance automated machinery and computer-based control systems.Diagnose and repair electrical components (switches, motors, relays, sensors) and related control hardware.Create and update electrical/controls drawings and PLC wiring documentation per engineering requirements.Install, test, and commission industrial controls, including HMIs, PLCs, robotic cells, and automated lines.Evaluate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve industrial networks supporting automation.Support and repair PLCs, HMIs, DCS, servos, drives, and robotic controllers (with heavy Fanuc exposure).Participate on cross-functional continuous improvement teams; occasional travel to other sites may be required.Follow all safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and adhere to company policies and recognized best practices.Execute a robust preventive maintenance program and maintain accurate maintenance records.Install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation as needed.Coach production team members on proper operation and care of automated equipment.Monitor downtime and operator feedback; lead root cause analysis to eliminate variation and stoppages.Perform other duties as assigned.What You BringDirect experience with Fanuc PLCs and Fanuc robots.Preferred exposure to Wonderware, SCADA, and Ignition platforms.Associate degree in Technology, Electrical/Electronics, Electro-Mechanical, or related certification preferred; or 3+ years of relevant experience.Hands-on knowledge of PLCs, robotics, servos/VFDs, vision systems/RFID, and both electrical and mechanical systems.Proficiency in reading schematics and using precision measuring/inspection tools.Strong written/verbal communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Solid intermediate math skills.Interpersonal ability to train and support teammates across departments.Core AbilitiesTechnical aptitude across controls, software, and machinery.Analytical mindset to quickly interpret complex systems data and isolate faults.Creative troubleshooting and rapid problem resolution.Self-motivated with flexibility in assignments.Clear, timely communication on system status, issues, and corrective actions.Physical RequirementsClimbing ladders, stairs, and equipment using hands/arms and legs; requires agility.Stooping and crouching involving bending at the waist, legs, and spine.Reaching in multiple directions; frequent standing and extended walking.Pushing and pulling to move objects; lifting and horizontal transfers of items.Grasping and fine fingering for detailed component work; tactile sensing (size, shape, temperature, texture).Speaking clearly to convey detailed instructions and information.Hearing: ability to perceive sounds with no less than 40 dB at 500 Hz, 100 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction; able to distinguish fine sound differences for precise adjustments.Repetitive arm/hand/finger movements as tasks require.Vision: capable of preparing/analyzing data and detecting small defects at close range.Exertion: Medium Work up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly.Environmental ConditionsWork occurs both indoors and outdoors.Possible exposure to extreme heat (over 100F for periods exceeding one hour).Noise and vibration (oscillating movement of extremities/whole body) may be present.Potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, oils, and cutting fluids.Atmospheric conditions may include fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or limited ventilation.Compensation & BenefitsStarting pay with opportunities for higher compensation based on experience and qualifications.Job Type: Full-timeBenefits: 401(k), 401(k) matching, 401(k) 3% match, health, dental, vision, life insuranceHSA and FSA options; Employee Assistance ProgramPaid time off, tuition reimbursement, referral programLocation & Work SetupWork Location: In personAbility to commute: Hanover, PA 17331 (Required)Your ToolkitYou should be proficient in:PLC troubleshooting and PLC programmingIndustrial robot programmingSCADA systemsElectrical/electronic systems and industrial electrical workElectrical schematic readingMachines & Technologies Youll UseAutomated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) DematicSCADA platformsProgrammable Logic Controller (PLC) FanucIndustrial Robots Fanuc, DematicPosting created: 3/2024
