Job summary

Steven Douglas Corp. designs, engineers, and builds custom automation systems for medical, consumer, industrial, automotive, and other industries.

We seek a Controls Programmer who combines strong C#/.NET development with hands-on hardware experience to control PC-based test and process equipment in real time. You will work with controls engineers and technicians to design, build, and deploy software that keeps equipment running reliably on the plant floor, with travel about 10% for startup

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing, developing, and deploying C# Windows apps in .NET.
• Experience interfacing with industrial hardware (sensors, motors, data acquisition).
• Ability to make PC the primary controller with real-time I/O and device communication.
• Strong OO design, debugging, and version control.
• Willingness to work on the plant floor with engineers and technicians.
• Ability to use AI tools and code generation while maintaining responsibility for output.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/SE/EE or equivalent hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy C# Windows applications for industrial machinery and hardware interfaces.
• Build and support applications where the PC serves as the primary controller with real-time I/O.
• Collaborate with controls engineers to understand machine behavior and translate into software.
• Support deployment and troubleshooting during FAT and customer startup.
• Maintain and improve existing code libraries with good documentation and source control.
• Collaborate to improve machine reliability, data visibility, and troubleshooting speed.
• Travel ~10% to support customer startups and project implementation.
