Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; electrical, industrial controls, mechatronics, or related training preferred.
  • Experience building industrial control panels in a UL 508A environment strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and build accurately from electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of material.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical components, conductor preparation, grounding/bonding, labeling, and terminal practices.
  • Ability to use a multimeter and basic electrical test equipment safely within assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math involving fractions and decimals.
  • Strong attention to detail, neat workmanship, documentation discipline, and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to work independently, ask questions when requirements are unclear, and contribute effectively to a team.
  • Formal UL 508A training or certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build industrial control panels from approved schematics, panel layouts, bills of material, work orders, and revision-controlled documentation.
  • Lay out and mount enclosures, back panels, DIN rail, wire duct, terminal blocks, disconnects, motor controls, power supplies, PLC/HMI components, relays, breakers, transformers, and related devices.
  • Measure, cut, strip, crimp, route, terminate, label, and secure conductors using specified wire types, colors, sizes, ferrules, lugs, and torque values.
  • Apply UL 508A panel-construction practices and Rohner standards, including component suitability, spacing, grounding/bonding, labeling, and workmanship requirements.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, point-to-point wiring, terminal plans, and component specifications.
  • Verify panel layout, component part numbers, wire numbers, terminal designations, and schematic revisions before and during the build.
  • Perform continuity checks, point-to-point verification, torque verification, visual inspection, and other de-energized tests as assigned.
  • Support controlled functional testing and troubleshooting under authorized procedures; correct wiring or documentation discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate redlines, inspection records, test records, material usage, and nonconformance documentation.
  • Protect sensitive components from damage and maintain ESD controls where required.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, meters, labelers, and test equipment safely and correctly within training and authorization.
  • Coordinate with Controls Engineering, Production, Quality, and other departments to resolve build questions and improve standardization.
  • Maintain a clean, organized panel shop and perform other duties as assigned.
