Job summary

R.E. Mason is seeking a highly skilled controls engineer to join our Factory Automation and PLC Services Team in Charlotte, NC. The Automation Engineer will develop, deliver, and commission PLC-based control systems and SCADA solutions for industrial customers, with emphasis on Emerson VersaMax/PACSystems, Allen-Bradley, and Siemens platforms.

You will work with a Tech Lead, support lifecycle services, and travel about 25% to client sites in NC, SC, and VA, with a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

B.S. in a related engineering field (CHE/EE/ME/CE/CS).
3+ years of relevant experience in controls/automation.
Experience configuring PLC/HMI/SCADA systems.

Responsibilities

Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs for OEM skids and custom equipment.
Configure SCADA solutions and historians; integrate with third-party systems like DeltaV/OSI PI.
Develop system documentation including FRS and detailed design specs.
Support FAT/SAT and startup activities at customer sites.
Travel approximately 25% to NC, SC, and VA.
Migrate PLC programming to Emerson Rx3i; modify GE iFIX and HMI graphics.
Review vendor design packages for panels/instrumentation to ensure requirements.
Collaborate with contractors for panel and equipment installations.
Maintain station I/O lists and drawings during checkout and commissioning.
