Job summary

Panatrol, an industrial controls integrator in the Chicago area, seeks a Controls Systems Engineer to design and support engineered control systems from kickoff to closeout. You will review specs, size components, and prepare BOMs, wiring diagrams, and documentation.

Responsibilities include PLC/HMI/drive programming support, testing, and cross-functional collaboration with customers and vendors. The role requires 1–5 years in electrical controls, familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1–5 years of related experience in electrical controls engineering, industrial automation, or similar work.
• Experience with motor controls including starters, MCPs, overloads, drives, MCCs, relays, and safety devices.
• Familiarity with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley preferred).
• Exposure to HMI programming and configuration; VFD setup and integration experience.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, vendor manuals, and installation details.

Responsibilities

• Review specifications, drawings, RFIs, submittals to verify obligations and identify gaps.
• Design and support industrial control systems, panels, wiring, PLC I/O, HMI interfaces, and drives.
• Size electrical components and prepare BOMs and wiring diagrams.
• Develop and troubleshoot relay-control circuits and hardwired logic.
• Support PLC, HMI, and drive programming and testing.
• Prepare test procedures for shop and factory acceptance testing.
• Create and maintain project documentation and closeout packages.
• Provide technical support to shop, electricians, technicians, PMs, vendors, and customers.
• Travel domestically as needed.
