Job summary

Amerex in Trussville, AL, is seeking an Automation & Equipment Engineer to advance PLC, HMI, and SCADA projects across manufacturing processes. Under the Automation & Equipment Manager, you will design, implement, and maintain controls solutions that improve reliability and efficiency on the shop floor.

The role requires hands-on Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley programming, reading schematics and P&IDs, and coordinating with IT for OT network security.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent.
3–5 years PLC programming and troubleshooting in manufacturing with Rockwell/AB.
Ability to read electrical schematics and P&IDs.
Knowledge of machine safety and electrical safe work practices.
Willingness to support production during off-hours.

Responsibilities

Develop, modify, and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA programs on the Rockwell Automation platform.
Design, configure, and support industrial control networks including EtherNet/IP and IT/OT considerations.
Evaluate existing control systems, identify gaps, and implement improvements.
Translate requirements into control specifications by studying equipment and process flow on the floor.
Specify, procure, install, and commission controls hardware and safety devices.
Provide troubleshooting support and on-call coverage for critical downtime; train maintenance techs and manage vendors.
