We are seeking a skilled Industrial Control Panel Technician to assist in the construction of bespoke control systems for automation and electrical applications. This role is perfect for a professional with practical experience in interpreting engineering documentation, schematics, and wiring diagrams to construct high-quality panels.
You will manage the full assembly lifecycle of control panels, encompassing everything from enclosure layout and component installation to precise wiring, labeling, and rigorous quality testing. We are looking for someone who excels at working with industrial electrical hardware and maintains a meticulous approach to following technical specifications.
Key Duties
- Construct and wire custom control panels by interpreting complex engineering schematics and diagrams
- Organize enclosure layouts and install electrical components to optimize space and functionality
- Execute mechanical modifications including drilling, cutting, and tapping to prepare enclosures
- Manage the end-to-end process of wire routing, termination, and labeling for all connections
- Utilize diverse hardware such as PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, relays, and power supplies to build robust systems
- Identify and resolve wiring discrepancies to ensure the final product aligns perfectly with design specifications
- Help maintain a high standard of quality to ensure every panel is built safely and accurately
- Adhere to established shop protocols and client-specific electrical standards
- Assist in the final inspection and testing phases to ensure operational readiness
- Help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team through organized shop practices
Required Qualifications
- Proven background in the assembly of automation panels, electrical cabinets, or industrial control systems
- Proficiency in analyzing and applying electrical layouts, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics
- Practical expertise in wire termination, crimping, routing, and labeling techniques
- Demonstrated skill in performing mechanical assembly and enclosure modifications
- Strong diagnostic abilities to resolve wiring and assembly challenges
- Working knowledge of automation hardware and standard industrial electrical components
- High level of precision and the ability to manage tasks autonomously
- Prior experience with UL508A standards is highly valued
- Possession of current or previous UL508A MTR certification is a significant advantage
