Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a Steamfitter for the Division of Facilities Planning & Management, supporting the heating and cooling power plants. The role focuses on installing, maintaining, and servicing HVACR equipment, reading blueprints, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years working on industrial chillers.
• Driver’s license that’s Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards
• Familiarity with both electric and turbine-driven condensing chillers
• EPA Universal Certification (A 608 Type III or higher, or equivalent)

Responsibilities

• Cleans work area upon completion of projects according to established guidelines and expectations
• Gathers materials, prepares work area, and maintains equipment and supplies needed for jobs
• Interprets blueprints and drawings to assess and verify specifications and to calculate the materials and equipment required
• Installs, troubleshoots, and services HVACR systems and equipment
• Reviews finished projects with client/customer and maintains records and reports
• Collaborates with and assists contractors as needed
• Performs skilled steamfitter work according to trade standards and safety codes
