Job summary

The Chiller Technician role is at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the Division of Facilities Planning & Management, Heating & Cooling Power Plant. You will troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair onsite chillers and perform preventive and predictive maintenance on HVACR equipment.

Based at Charter Street and Walnut Street plants, this 100% FTE onsite position runs 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with occasional nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years working on industrial chillers.
• EPA Universal Certification (A 608 Type III or higher) preferred or required.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans work area upon completion of projects according to guidelines.
• Gathers materials, prepares work area, and maintains equipment for jobs.
• Interprets blueprints to verify specifications and calculate materials.
• Installs, troubleshoots, and services HVACR systems and equipment.
• Maintains records and reports of work status and completion deadlines.
• Collaborates with contractors as needed.
• Performs skilled steamfitter work according to standards and codes.
