Job summary

NEXPERA is seeking a Chemical Operator for its New Castle, DE site. You will monitor and operate process equipment, perform lab analyses, and ensure adherence to safety and SOPs in a sulfuric acid/chemical environment.

Key duties include start-up/shut-down, equipment troubleshooting, maintenance prep, and training new operators, with rotating shifts and potential overtime. A valid driver’s license and ability to obtain boiler and forklift certifications are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite; able to learn new systems.
• Willing to work 12‑hour rotating shifts, including overtime and nights.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and work in high hazard environments.
• Willing to obtain boiler license and forklift certification.
• Valid driver’s license; able to obtain forklift certification.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial equipment.
• Experience reading schematics and P&ID where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Start up and shut down plant systems (normal and emergency).
• Operate, monitor, and control plant systems; inspect equipment and process conditions.
• Isolate and lock out equipment for maintenance preparations.
• Follow and revise detailed operating and safety procedures as required.
• Troubleshoot equipment to restore normal operation.
• Analyze charts/logs to identify problems.
• Train new operators, emphasizing safety and environmental rules.
• Load/unload railcars, tank trucks and totes; perform lab analysis.
• Clerical duties and shipping duties as needed.
• Operate mobile equipment (forklifts, manlifts, yard-dog).
