Job summary

MEI is seeking a Computer Aided Design Drafter in Southbridge, MA to produce accurate 2D drawings and 3D models supporting structural steel, machinery, and fabrication projects. You will collaborate with project leadership, welders, and field crews to translate site data into fabrication-ready designs.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects, and proficiency with SolidWorks or AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical CAD training preferred.
• 1–3 years of CAD design, drafting, or related experience preferred.
• Experience with steel fabrication or structural detailing is a plus.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar 2D/3D design software; able to learn additional programs.

Responsibilities

• Create accurate 2D drawings and 3D models for fabrication and installation.
• Develop shop, assembly, and fabrication drawings, layouts, and BOMs.
• Translate project specs and field measurements into constructible designs.
• Conduct field visits to obtain measurements and verify conditions.
• Coordinate with project leaders and shop personnel to support fabrication needs.
• Maintain drawing revisions and project documentation.
