Job description

Job Title: Boiler House Technician
Department:
TP) Facility Technology Team
Shift:
Nights 5:45 PM - 6:00 AM or Days 5:45 AM - 6:00 PM, 2-2-3 fixed schedule (Shift placement will be based on position availability)
Direct Report:
FTT Unit Manager

About the Boiler Operator position

We are looking for an experienced operator who will provide basic preventative and planned maintenance.

Operator responsibilities are:
  • Perform all work safely and according to company standards.
  • Work well with others within the team and throughout the organization.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the position.
  • Operate and maintain industrial utility equipment such as steam boilers, air compressors, nitrogen delivery systems, cooling towers, HVAC rooftop units, chillers, and other associated equipment.
  • Operate the equipment within defined process parameters and respond to deviation immediately.
  • Conduct cooling water and boiler water testing.
  • Conduct and document operator rounds; keep record of operational data in log books.
  • Responsible for routine maintenance of pumps, valves, lines, and equipment.
  • Perform job assignments alone or as a member of a work crew, depending on the nature of the assignment.
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and/or machinery manuals to diagnose problems, identify components, and verify proper equipment operation.
  • Utilize power & hand tools to properly and safely support work activities.
  • Maintain housekeeping and sanitation of work area and equipment.
  • Follow safe working procedures such as LOTO, Hot Work Permits, Fall protection, and PPE.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Operator requirements are:

Education:

  • (Required) High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • (Required) 4 years of operation of utility equipment.
  • (Required) Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • (Preferred) Relevant experience.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; to reach with hands and arms; and to talk and hear.
  • Mobility throughout the facility.
  • Working in warm temperatures with no air conditioning, working outside at times during cold weather.
  • Employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, walk, crouch or crawl.
  • Employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted on a frequent basis.
  • Working at heights of 10 feet or greater, operating lifting devices, and entering confined spaces.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
