Industrial Battery Technicians install and service battery power systems on customer premises. Technicians are provided with a company service van, iPad, credit card, and cell phone.

Position Responsibilities

• Perform service calls at customer locations to repair batteries, chargers, and battery‑handling equipment.
• Read documentation to research and troubleshoot problems.
• Test batteries to diagnose and analyze performance, then recommend battery performance improvements.
• Move and maintain inventory of returned, scrap, and customer batteries at the branch location.
• Complete and submit information for jobs via tablet or hard copy (time cards, maintenance reports with customer signatures).
• Attend service training classes to maintain knowledge of new products and refreshers on rarely encountered products.
• Communicate with dispatcher and/or service office to provide job status and availability for new jobs.
• Identify jobs that should be sent to the shop for repair and recommend their transfer.
• Develop and maintain relationships with territory sales representatives to share sales opportunities you observe.
• Assist with warehouse duties or special projects as needed.
• Always adhere to safety rules and policies at all times.

Essential skills and experience

• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience repairing and servicing batteries, chargers, and related equipment.
• Mechanical and electrical knowledge.
• Strong customer orientation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Time management: ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
• Basic computer proficiency and laptop fundamentals.
• Ownership of required tools per the recommended tool list.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Certification to operate material‑handling equipment.
• Commitment to company vision and mission.

Physical Demands

Employees frequently lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 75 pounds, and rarely up to 100 pounds. Tasks include standing, reclining (lying on back), kneeling, walking, twisting, reaching, and using feet to repair and operate machinery. Employees occasionally sit, stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and crawl. Work requires continuous use of hands and fingers for handling, operating controls, and computer equipment. Vision requirements include near vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Listening, speaking, and writing skills are required to communicate with customers and the service office. The work environment may involve loud noises, extreme cold or heat, vibration, mists, dust, odors, gases, and moving machinery or parts. Personal protective equipment such as hard hats, steel‑toe safety shoes, and safety glasses must be worn when appropriate.
