Job summary

ADM Decatur is seeking an Automation Software Lead to spearhead modernization of process control systems on-site in Decatur, IL. You will drive software design, configuration, and integration across projects, leading a cross-functional team of engineers.

Requirements include 7+ years in industrial automation software development and expertise with DeltaV or PlantPAx, plus strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills with a focus on safety and standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in industrial automation software development; 3+ years in project execution.
• Experience with Emerson DeltaV or Rockwell PlantPAx.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards and cybersecurity basics.

Responsibilities

• Govern software design and 3rd‑party automation vendor interfaces.
• Oversee software engineering tasks including configuration, programming and integration.
• Plan upgrades for legacy control systems to improve performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, control system engineers, and project managers.
• Develop and maintain software specifications and technical documentation.
• Lead testing, commissioning, and FAT/SAT activities.
• Ensure designs comply with ISA, IEC, NFPA and cybersecurity standards.
• Coordinate with vendors for software tools, licenses, and services.
• Mentor junior software engineers.
• Adhere to ADM standards and best practices.
