Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie Company Inc. in Stockton, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Automation Engineer to design electrical control systems for our industrial equipment from concept through production and installation.

You will create wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs, while supporting PLC and HMI programming and collaborating with mechanical and fabrication teams to deliver reliable, high-quality automation solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years designing industrial electrical control systems.
Experience designing industrial control panels and electrical schematics.
Knowledge of industrial automation and manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with PLC programming and industrial networking.
Strong reading of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

Design electrical control systems for industrial machinery and automated equipment.
Design and layout electrical control cabinets, including components and wiring.
Create electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
Develop BOMs for electrical assemblies.
Assist with PLC programming, HMI development, and troubleshooting.
Provide technical support during manufacturing, panel assembly, and commissioning.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical and mechanical systems.
