Job summary

Borusan Pipe USA is seeking an Automation Engineer to support and improve PLC-controlled systems on our ERW mill floor. This is a hands-on, entry-level role for a recent engineering graduate eager to gain practical experience in controls, robotics, and manufacturing automation.

You will work closely with Maintenance, Operations and Quality to troubleshoot, implement upgrades, and document changes, while developing a strong foundation in safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (controls), or related field
0–3 years of experience; internships/co-ops in manufacturing preferred
Basic understanding of PLCs and industrial automation concepts
Willingness to work in an industrial manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and support PLC, HMI, and automated production systems across ERW mill operations
Assist in diagnosing electrical, controls, and automation-related downtime issues
Modify and maintain PLC programs under senior engineering guidance
Support commissioning and startup of automation equipment and system upgrades
Maintain automation documentation including schematics, backups, and control logic revisions
Spend significant time on the production floor supporting real-time operations
Work alongside Maintenance Technicians to resolve equipment failures
Support preventative and predictive maintenance initiatives
Assist with root cause analysis of equipment and process failures
Drive continuous improvement projects focused on uptime, safety, and productivity
Identify automation opportunities to improve throughput and reduce scrap
Support capital projects including equipment installation and modernization
Participate in Lean Manufacturing and reliability improvement initiatives
Assist with data collection and performance analysis of manufacturing systems
Provide technical guidance to hourly Maintenance Electricians and Technicians
May supervise or coordinate daily work activities of assigned maintenance personnel during projects or troubleshooting efforts
Partner with Operations and Quality teams to improve process stability
Support training of maintenance staff on automation systems
Interface with engineering resources from global operations and share best practices
Follow PPE policies and safety rules
