Actalent is seeking an Industrial Automation Engineer for a contract role in Warren, MI. You will support an autonomous manufacturing deployment by planning, developing, and deploying automation solutions to improve material flow, labor efficiency, safety, and operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering field or equivalent experience.
Professional experience in industrial or automation engineering.
Experience in labor, productivity, process and staffing analyses in a manufacturing or logistics environment.
Experience with material flow, inventory management, or PFEP methodologies.
Ability to develop future-state manufacturing processes and automation concepts.
Experience in automation implementation, commissioning, startup, and stabilization.

Responsibilities

Support facility, process and material flow planning for manufacturing automation projects.
Develop layouts, route concepts, and material delivery strategies to optimize throughput and safety.
Participate in simulation and modeling to evaluate automation solutions and assess impact on performance.
Determine throughput targets, staffing impacts, fleet sizing, route capacities, and system utilization.
Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to develop scalable automation solutions.
Support implementation, commissioning, startup, and stabilization activities on the plant floor.
Collaborate with deployment and control engineers, suppliers, and plant personnel during project execution.
Assist with troubleshooting material flow issues and system performance during launch.
Validate operational performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability.
Monitor progress to meet safety, quality and operational objectives.
Work with operations, maintenance, engineering, materials, logistics and external suppliers to align requirements.
Facilitate stakeholder discussions on future-state processes and automation strategies.
Communicate project progress, risks, and recommendations clearly to teams.
Support supplier evaluations and implementation activities to meet needs.
Develop and maintain project documentation and training materials.
