Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Automation Materials Industrial Engineer to join our Autonomous Manufacturing & Deployment (AMD) team. The role focuses on planning, development, and deployment of automation solutions that improve material flow, labor efficiency, safety, and operational performance in manufacturing environments.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, 5+ years as an Industrial Engineer specializing in materials flow, and hands-on experience with AutoCAD and plant floor

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years as an Industrial Engineer with focus on materials flow.
  • PFEP (Plan For Every Part) experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and plant floor layouts.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% to local Midwest plants.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and deploy automation solutions to improve material flow and operational performance.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, materials, logistics, and automation teams.
  • Analyze processes, identify improvements, and develop automation concepts.
  • Lead front-end analysis and maintain involvement through implementation and stabilization.

Job description

Duration: 1 year contract with potential extensions

Compensation: $40/hr to $48/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Must Haves:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Logistics Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience working as an Industrial Engineer with a focus on materials/material flow
  • PFEP (Plan For Every Part)
  • Experience using AutoCAD and performing plant floor layouts
  • Must be comfortable with up to 75% travel to local plants, may require some further travel occasionally to plants within the Midwest
Plusses:
  • Experience with automation technologies (AMRs, AGVs, robotics integration).
  • Knowledge of ERP/WMS systems and digital twin applications.
  • Prior experience working in a Center of Excellence or global standards role.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with practical experience supporting manufacturing operations and automation initiatives. This position is weighted toward front-end analysis, material flow optimization, and solution development while maintaining involvement throughout implementation and execution.
