Job summary

CVI Laser Optics is seeking a highly skilled Controls Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot building automation and process control systems critical to our precision manufacturing operations. You will support HVAC, cleanroom monitoring, and utility controls while ensuring reliability and safety.

The role requires 3–5 years in automation environments, with knowledge of PLCs, control logic, and networking protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years of experience with building automation, industrial controls, instrumentation, or similar automation systems.
• Technical education, certification, apprenticeship, or training in controls, automation, electrical, instrumentation, or related field is a plus.
• Experience in cleanroom, semiconductor, optical, aerospace, medical device, or other precision manufacturing environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Configure, program, troubleshoot, and maintain building automation and control systems.
• Install, wire, configure, and commission controllers, sensors, actuators, and other field devices using BACnet and Modbus TCP/IP.
• Support PLC and automation systems, including troubleshooting control logic, inputs/outputs, communications, and equipment interfaces.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and controls issues involving low-voltage wiring and 24V/120V control circuits.
• Perform preventive maintenance on control panels, controllers, sensors, instrumentation, and equipment.
• Document work orders, preventive maintenance, and repairs in CMMS.
• Collaborate with Facilities, Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and external vendors on installations and improvements.
