Job summary

Kinder Morgan is seeking an Automation Technician/Engineer to support natural gas compressor station automation across multiple platforms and equipment. The role involves troubleshooting, commissioning, and maintaining DCS/PLC/Safety/SCADA systems, while coordinating with Operations and Environmental teams to ensure compliance and reliability.

Candidates should have hands-on experience with industrial automation, strong PLC/HMI skills, and the ability to work with diverse operations staff.

Qualifications

2-5 years of experience in operations, maintenance and/or capital project support of industrial automation systems.
Familiarity with natural gas compression facilities, rotating machinery, gas turbines and centrifugal compressors.
Experience with start-up and commissioning of compressor stations or industrial facilities.
Knowledge of NEC and DOT 192, NFPA 70-E electrical safety.
Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting; ladder logic, function block, and structured text.
Experience with WonderWare HMI/SCADA implementation.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and resolve automation and compressor controls issues.
Maintain and troubleshoot turbines, reciprocating engines, and PLC programs in unit/station controllers and related equipment.
Provide technical input at capital project phases: scoping, design review, commissioning.
Support SCADA data transfer to Gas Control and COMETII.
Develop and maintain HMI node programs and provide support to HMI hardware.
Establish and support automation standards for reporting to Gas Control.
