Job summary

Atlas Copco Group in New Hudson, MI is seeking a Manufacturing Controls Engineer to support Operations with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, and to lead Industry 4.0 initiatives across plant systems. You will work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for efficiency, install and program devices including vision systems and robotics, and update electrical prints.

The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing, a BS in engineering, and strong Siemens PLC skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred; 5+ years PLC programming/troubleshooting may be considered.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on manufacturing experience required.
• 2+ years’ experience leading projects or small teams.
• Proficient in Siemens 57 PLC logic and project development (Siemens 57 300 a a plus).
• Proficiency in Python/Java/C++ for automation tasks.
• Familiarity with Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP protocols.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to travel locally as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical assistance for manufacturing controls issues.
• Lead development of machines and plant systems for Industry 4.0 initiatives.
• Install, program, and Commission electrical devices, vision systems, robotics.
• Design basic control panels and work with Siemens PLCs.
• Analyze workflow, equipment placement, and space for efficiency.
• Prepare technical documents to support improvements.
• Travel locally as needed.
