The Role We Want You For

As an Architectural Designer, you will contribute to various design projects, conduct research, and perform analysis to support our innovative Industrial Design practice. You will assist the practice’s leadership in growing our Phoenix presence and portfolio through project pursuits and client relationships. The team collaborates across disciplines and with Clayco’s construction and real estate divisions to deliver integrated projects.

The Specifics of the Role

1. Serve as the point person for industrial pursuits with Clayco, leading sales meetings, client visits, RFP pursuits, team management, and project oversight.
2. Collaborate with Clayco Industrial leadership to identify and secure new project opportunities.
3. Prepare project proposals and fee analyses for senior leadership review.
4. Coordinate staffing and operations within the studio and projects.
5. Oversee design of complex projects and development of construction drawings, acting as primary coordinator with contractors and engineers.
6. Lead design teams in developing proposals and managing team members.
7. Lead business development conversations to win work.
8. Develop expertise and thought leadership on industrial topics.
9. Participate in industry discussions through white papers and speaking engagements.
10. Recruit and interview potential team members to support growth.
11. Represent LJC at community and civic events.
12. Practice LJC’s core values: integrity, humility, and fearlessness.
13. Advise and guide LJC’s Core Councils (Culture, Integration, Practice, Process, Sustainability).
14. Foster a collaborative culture across offices.
15. Travel as needed for project pursuits and client engagement.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field.
2. 15+ years of relevant experience in architecture and design.
3. Registered architect.
4. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD/Revit, GIS, 3D modeling tools, MS Office.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Poise and confidence in presentations.
7. Strong interpersonal and coaching skills.
