Individual Life & Health Insurance Customer Service Representative

Position Overview:

This role is responsible for providing exceptional service and support to policy holders, agents, and internal departments regarding individual life and health insurance policies, and a commitment to helping customers navigate their insurance needs efficiently and empathetically.

Responsibilities:

Respond to inbound calls, emails, and written correspondence from policy holders, agents, and third parties regarding individual life and health insurance policies.
Provide information and support on policy status, claims, billing inquiries, coverage details, and policy changes.
Process policy updates such as address changes, beneficiary updates, and payment modifications accurately and timely.
Educate customers on policy features, benefits, and procedures to ensure clear understanding.
Collaborate with underwriting, claims, and billing departments to resolve complex issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
Document customer interactions and maintain detailed records in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Stay current on product offerings, regulatory changes, and company procedures to provide accurate information and service.
Participate in training and development programs to enhance product knowledge and customer service skills.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma required; Associates or Bachelor’s Degree a plus
Active Minnesota Life & Health Insurance License, or the willingness to obtain the license within 90 days of employment
Minimum 1-2 years of customer service experience in the insurance industry, preferably with life and health products.
Familiarity with insurance terminology, policy administration systems, and regulatory requirements
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with Applied Epic preferred; will consider other agency management systems
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
Ability to pass a criminal background check as permitted by law

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm
